It is important to the University of Cologne to be a safe, non-discriminatory and violence-sensitive place to study, teach and work. The university is also actively participating in the ColognePride to demonstrate for queer rights. Even the heaviest rainfall could not stop the more than employees of the University of Cologne, TH Köln, Rheinische Hochschule and Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln from celebrating queer diversity and demonstrating against queer hostility and discrimination.

The CSD week was once again accompanied by the raising of the rainbow flag , which in for the first time was no longer seen as a 6-striped version, but as the Intersex Inclusive Progress Flag on the main building. The employees of the University of Cologne took part in the ColognePride demonstration for the second time in - this time in cooperation with TH Köln.

During pride week, the rainbow flag was raised in front of the main university building. Over employees from research and administration, including members of the Rectorate, took part in the demonstration to send out a signal against discrimination. In , the University of Cologne's staff took part in the ColognePride demonstration for the first time with a truck.

More than 90 employees from research and administration joinded the truck and walking group. The motto of the overall demonstration was "50 YEARS OF PRIDE - Many.
